LocalCast is a media casting app for Android and iOS. It sends videos, music and photos from a phone — or from a website, a NAS, a cloud drive or an IPTV playlist — to Chromecast, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, smart TVs, DLNA/UPnP devices, Sonos, Xbox and any screen with a web browser. It has no ads and needs no account. This page collects the facts about the app in one place. Last updated: 21 October 2026.

Pricing
LocalCast is free to download and completely ad-free. Browsing your files, NAS, cloud storage, IPTV playlists and the web is free. Casting to a TV is LocalCast Pro: it starts with a free trial, then costs a weekly or yearly subscription, or a single Lifetime purchase that never renews. Prices are set per country and shown in the store and inside the app; as a reference, the yearly plan is about US$18–23 in the United States. There is no account, no sign-up and no tracking.
What LocalCast casts
- Files on the phone: videos, music and photos, including formats many TVs cannot play natively (MKV, AVI, HEVC/H.265, FLAC). When the target device cannot play a file, LocalCast transcodes it on the phone.
- Web videos: the built-in browser detects playable video and audio on web pages and shows a cast button.
- Network sources: SMB/CIFS shares (NAS, Windows, Mac), FTP and WebDAV servers, DLNA/UPnP media servers and Plex.
- Cloud storage: Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud Drive, MEGA and Box through the system file picker.
- IPTV: M3U playlists with an EPG program guide; live channels are cast to the TV.
- Screen mirroring: share the phone screen from Android and iOS.
- Subtitles: SRT, ASS and SSA files and automatic OpenSubtitles search; size, colour and position are adjustable. Full subtitle control is available on Chromecast and the LocalCast receiver; DLNA targets depend on the TV.
- Queue and playlists, 4K and HDR files, casting to several devices from one phone.
Supported devices
- Google Cast: Chromecast (all generations, Chromecast with Google TV, Chromecast Audio), Android TV, Google TV, NVIDIA Shield, Google Home and Nest speakers, Cast-enabled TVs and soundbars.
- Roku players and Roku TVs.
- Amazon Fire TV Stick, Cube and Fire TV Edition TVs.
- Apple TV and AirPlay receivers.
- Smart TVs via DLNA/UPnP or their own protocol: Samsung, LG (webOS), Sony Bravia, Philips, TCL, Hisense, Vizio, Panasonic, Xiaomi, Sharp, Toshiba and any other DLNA renderer.
- Speakers: Sonos, JBL Link, Bose SoundTouch, Denon HEOS and other DLNA speakers.
- Consoles and browsers: Xbox One and Series X|S (DLNA), PlayStation 4 and 5 and anything with a browser through the lcast.cc web receiver. PlayStation 3 is not supported.
Requirement for every target: phone and TV on the same Wi-Fi network without AP or client isolation. See Chromecast says “Cannot reach your phone” and Can’t find your TV? when a device does not show up.
